What is an IQ test and what does my score mean?

Valid IQ tests are designed to be measures of general cognitive ability or intelligence  – your ability to apply relevant information, reason & problem solve. Scientists have found that the diverse mental abilities that we have tend to be statistically related and your IQ score is a valid summary statistic of general cognitive ability, also known as G. An IQ of greater than 130 is needed for Mensa membership. An IQ of 115 or more is generally considered necessary to benefit from a university level degree program.
